The Emperial Paris
Napoléon managed to build himself his image and legend among the people. Like the Roman Emperors, he built monuments commemorating his victories : - The Madeleine Church, considered as the imperial army temple. - The Vendôme Column, built with bronze taken from the enemies' guns. - The Carroussel and Etoile's Arc de Triomphe (completed in 1836).
At last, his great urban dream led him to the building of the Iena, the Austerlitz Bridge and the Arts Footbridge (first iron bridge ever built in France).
On a smaller scale, he opened new streets, built sidewalks, gave numbers to the houses, built markets and slaughterhouses, drove sewers, edged the Seine River with quays. The Emperor built the Canal de L'Ourcq to allow to give water for a large number of new fountains. Water was rare and expensive during this period, and Napoléon desired to have it in abundance and free.

The History of the Napoleon is a True Love Story
Paris was then only elegance. In 1928, President Poincaré stabilizes the French Franc and a short economic boost appeared. This enthusiasm had repercussions on the Parisian artistic milieux and the town gets nicer in the 'Art Nouveau' style we still can see in the surroundings of some underground accesses completed by Hector Guimard.
In the same year, a rich and excentric Russian businessman named Alexandre Pavlovitch KLIAGUINE fell in love with a young art student. It was love at first sight, and they got married right away. As a present, he offered to his new wife the Hotel Napoleon in order to end her studies in the best conditions. It was at the hotel that they lived happily together until their deaths.
And so, according to Napoleon Bonaparte, 'a woman needs to spend 6 monthes in Paris to know what is due to her and what is her empire'. Since then, numerous celebrities have enjoyed a time of harmony in our hotel, such as Errol Flynn, Jean Gabin, Orson Welles, Joséphine Baker and many others.
